Grey Goose
Learn to mix drinks without the hangover
Digital Arts Network launched a beautiful :90 broadcast commercial for Grey Goose’s ‘Fly Beyond’ campaign. We were given the task of taking that video and creating a companion experience for the YouTube Brand channel. We filmed a series of short vignettes with a bartender showing users how to make a signature cocktail. To ensure that users were served a cocktail they actually liked, we placed hotspots in the broadcast commercial that triggered a simple questionnaire asking users ‘What are you in the mood for?’ Based on their answers, our experience delivered a cocktail video specific to the user’s taste.
Design
Delicate & Smooth
The UI used delicate line art, simple shapes and roll overs with sheer overlays and blur effects to emulate the feeling of looking through the frosted Grey Goose bottle. We applied a philosophy of guiding the user through the experience vs. overwhelming them with a multitude of options. Video was shot and stitched together in a way where users felt like they were having a conversation with the bartender instead of a traditional menu-style way of navigating to the next vignette.




Architecture
Blurring the lines
We created a framework that intelligently fetched imagery, video & JavaScript dependent on the content being consumed. Using clever cuts, elegant eases and transitions, we disguised the seams and blurred the lines between video and interactive. Using single page frontend architecture we effectively stitched them together so it never felt like anything stopped or started.
