Twitter wanted to emphasize that there’s more to the platform than isolated statements. More importantly, people use Twitter to see what’s happening in the world and engage with a variety of perspectives and commentary, all in one place. That remarkable ability to connect with a global dialogue is what makes Twitter truly unique. Where else can you follow live conversations between politicians and popes, with running commentary by celebrity comedians? To showcase these capabilities, Twitter asked HAUS to create a site that features curated tweets on current topics of interest, thereby showing that Twitter is not just a collection of tweets, but a way to keep your finger on the pulse of the world.
Twitter has evolved to become so culturally significant, it’s now an essential part of staying in the loop. From Supreme Court rulings to the Super Bowl, Twitter provides a snapshot of global perspectives on current events. On the day of the 2016 U.S. presidential election, for example, Twitter was the largest source of breaking news, with over 40 million election-related tweets. That instant global cultural connectivity is what Twitter does so well.
Our goal was to create an engaging and elegant experience that would allow the content to shine, all while making everything feel unequivocally aligned with the Twitter brand. HAUS applied animation, video, and seamless transitions to add personality and style without getting in the way of the content.
The team at Twitter needed to be able to directly edit the content on a daily basis, adding pages and sections as needed. To provide maximum flexibility and control, we built the site on top of their robust and specialized CMS platform. This allowed seamless integration with Twitter’s other web properties. The resulting site is a responsive experience that can be enjoyed on any device.
